Born May 26, 1969 - Died February 25, 1999

Corey Lee Winkle was born on May 26, 1969, in Raton, New Mexico. His family later settled in Lubbock, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Coronado High School. From an early age, Corey expressed an interest in military service and the sense of purpose it offered.

On August 25, 1989, he enlisted in the United States Army. He trained as a driver of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, a role that placed him at the center of mechanized operations requiring discipline, coordination, and constant readiness.

Private First Class Winkle deployed to the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. On February 25, 1991, he died in service following a grenade explosion, just days before the end of major combat operations.

Private First Class Corey Lee Winkle is laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas.
