Staff Sergeant Baldwin "Bobo" Lovell Satchell
Born August 21, 1959 - Died January 22, 1991

Staff Sergeant Baldwin Lovell Satchell, known to family and friends as “Bobo,” was born on August 21, 1959, in Courtland, Alabama. He graduated from Courtland High School in 1978 and chose a path of service soon after, enlisting in the United States Army in 1980.

During his military career, Staff Sergeant Satchell was assigned to the 229th Supply and Service Company, a unit responsible for the logistical backbone that sustained combat and support operations. In 1990, he deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield during the Gulf War.

While serving in Saudi Arabia and still actively deployed, Staff Sergeant Baldwin Satchell suffered a heart attack on January 22, 1991. His death occurred far from home, during a period of intense operational tempo, and marked the loss of a soldier serving his country overseas.

Staff Sergeant Baldwin “Bobo” Lovell Satchell is buried at Calvary Memorial Gardens in Decatur, Alabama. His service reflects the reality of military sacrifice beyond the battlefield, one carried out quietly, steadily, and far from public view, yet no less worthy of remembrance.
