Sergeant Tommy Angelo Blue, A Soldier's Story
Sergeant Tommy Angelo Blue, A Soldier's Story
Sergeant Tommy Angelo Blue was born on December 20, 1957, in Spring Lake, North Carolina. He graduated from Pine Forest High School and chose to serve his country through enlistment in the United States Army.
After entering the Army, Sergeant Blue trained as a food service specialist, an essential role responsible for sustaining morale, health, and readiness in deployed units. He was assigned to the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade and deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm during the Gulf War.
While his service did not place him in the spotlight of combat operations, Sergeant Blue’s work was vital to the daily functioning of military life in a deployed environment. Every mission depends on logistics, endurance, and the often-unseen efforts of soldiers who ensure their units are fed, supplied, and able to operate under demanding conditions.
Sergeant Tommy Angelo Blue died of a heart attack on December 30, 1990, while in service. He is buried at Fort Bragg Main Post Cemetery, among fellow service members.
His story is a reminder that military service is not defined solely by battlefield moments, but by commitment, presence, and the willingness to serve wherever duty calls.
