Specialist Robert Allen Noonan, A Soldier's Story
Specialist Robert Allen Noonan, A Soldier's Story
Specialist Robert Allen Noonan was born on November 18, 1968, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Roger Bacon High School, where he played football and was known for his commitment to his team and school community.
Following his graduation, Noonan enlisted in the United States Army in 1987. He trained in anti-armor weapons and was assigned to the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, an airborne unit with a long history of rapid deployment and combat readiness.
Specialist Noonan deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm during the Gulf War, serving as part of the United States’ response to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. His service placed him among the thousands of young American soldiers tasked with deterrence, readiness, and the defense of regional stability during a tense and rapidly evolving conflict.
Tragically, Specialist Robert Allen Noonan was killed in an automobile accident on September 20, 1990, during his period of service. He is buried at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Though his life and military career were brief, Specialist Noonan’s service reflects the quiet commitment of a generation that answered the call during the Gulf War, young soldiers who trained, deployed, and stood ready, often far from home.
