Sergeant Alan Brent Craver, A Soldier's Story

Sergeant Alan Brent Craver
Born November 11, 1958 - Died February 25, 1991

Alan Brent Craver was born on November 11, 1958, in Plum, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Penn Hills High School before enlisting in the United States Army Reserve in 1983. He was assigned to the 14th Quartermaster Detachment, a unit responsible for essential supply and logistics operations.

In addition to his military service, Sergeant Craver pursued higher education, graduating from Pennsylvania State University in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Resource Management. He built a civilian career as a safety officer at Greater Pittsburgh Airport, a position that reflected his commitment to responsibility, preparedness, and the protection of others.

In 1990, Sergeant Craver was activated for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and deployed to Saudi Arabia with the 14th Quartermaster Detachment during the Gulf War. His service placed him in a forward area at a time when coalition forces faced ongoing missile threats.

On February 25, 1991, a SCUD missile struck the barracks housing his unit. Sergeant Alan Brent Craver was killed in the attack.

He is buried at Plum Creek Cemetery in Plum, Pennsylvania. Sergeant Craver’s life reflects the quiet resolve of a reservist who balanced civilian service with military duty and answered the call when his nation required it.
